The pivot to Asia: Rhetoric isn’t enough

Wednesday, July 29, 2015 | 12:00 – 1:00 PM

Lunch will be served.

AEI, Twelfth Floor | 1150 Seventeenth Street, NW | Washington, DC 20036

Rep. J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) sits down with former Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO) to discuss the security challenge China’s military modernization and expansion pose to the United States and its allies.

DESCRIPTION
China’s military modernization and expansion present a security challenge to the United States and its allies that they have not seen since the end of the Cold War. While the basic concept of the Obama administration’s pivot to Asia — moving additional military forces to the western Pacific — makes sound geostrategic sense, many question whether the resources committed will be adequate for the task at hand.

Please join AEI as Rep. J. Randy Forbes (R-VA), chairman of the House Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, sits down with former Sen. Jim Talent (R-MO) to discuss the challenge posed by China’s military and to outline next steps to ensure long-term security for the US and its allies.

If you are unable to attend, we invite you to watch the event live on this page and comment on Twitter with #ForbesatAEI. Full video and transcript will be posted within 24 hours.
